ZG-SEES Mono-End Glycidoxy-Terminated Polydimethylsiloxane
ZG-SEES contains a glycidoxypropyl reactive end group at one end of the molecule, with the other end being a non-reactive capping group. Under suitable curing conditions, the epoxy end group can undergo ring-opening reactions with active components such as amines, anhydrides and carboxyl groups, chemically incorporating PDMS flexible segments into the resin in a single-point manner. Compared with non-reactive silicone oils, this product helps reduce long-term migration risk and can adjust flexibility, curing internal stress, hydrophobicity, low surface energy and interfacial wetting. Because it contains on average only one epoxy reactive site, ZG-SEES is better suited for grafting/capping, side-chain introduction and reactive surface modification, and is not used as a primary difunctional crosslinker.
Product positioning: monofunctional reactive epoxy silicone modifier for single-point grafting, flexible modification and surface control of epoxy resins, adhesives, potting compounds, protective coatings and composites
Chemical Type
Mono-end glycidoxypropyl-terminated PDMS
Functional Structure
Mono-end mono-epoxy; the other end non-reactive capping
Reaction Type
Epoxy ring-opening curing/graft modification
Product Form
Colorless transparent liquid
Product Features
Monofunctional Reactive Design
On average one epoxy reactive site, suitable for single-point grafting, end-group adjustment and side-chain PDMS introduction
Reactive Flexible Modification
After chemical incorporation, can relieve curing shrinkage and internal stress and improve brittleness, water resistance and thermal-cycling adaptability
Surface and Interface Control
Helps improve hydrophobicity, low surface energy, slip and interfacial wetting, and reduces free silicone oil migration risk
Molecular Weight Selection
The 2000 type is generally more favorable for compatibility and reactive incorporation in conventional epoxy systems; the 5000 type offers stronger flexibility and silicone surface effects, but transparency and compatibility must be specifically verified
Typical Technical Specifications
| Model | Nominal Mn (g/mol) | Appearance | Viscosity (25°C, mPa·s) | Epoxy Equivalent (g/eq) | Epoxy Value (mol/100g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZG-SEES-2000 | 2000 | Colorless transparent liquid | 25-35 | 2000 | 0.05 |
| ZG-SEES-5000 | 5000 | Colorless transparent liquid | 60-80 | 5000 | 0.02 |
*Epoxy equivalent unit is g/eq; epoxy value (mol/100g) ≈ 100 ÷ epoxy equivalent (g/eq). The above are typical values; the actual batch is subject to the COA.
Applications and Recommended Dosage
| Application System | Recommended Dosage (Engineering Starting Range) |
|---|---|
| Epoxy Adhesives/Structural Adhesives | 0.5%-3.0% based on epoxy resin |
| Epoxy Coatings/Protective Coatings | 0.5%-3.0% based on epoxy resin |
| Electronic Potting/Encapsulation/Insulation Materials | 1.0%-5.0% based on the base resin |
| Reactive Surface/Flow Modification | 0.2%-2.0% based on the total formulation |
Compatibility and Solubility
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Generally preferred | Toluene, xylene, THF, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate; liquid bisphenol A/F epoxy and reactive epoxy diluents can serve as preferred pre-mix media |
| Requires lab-trial confirmation | PMA, MEK/MIBK, epoxy resins of different polarity, other resins and curing agent phases; compatibility varies with PDMS molecular weight and system polarity |
| Generally not recommended for direct use | Highly polar media such as water, methanol and ethanol; compatibility/emulsification verification should be done first in waterborne epoxy or highly polar amine phases |
| Selection principle | For priority on compatibility and reaction efficiency, choose ZG-SEES-2000; for priority on flexibility, hydrophobicity and surface effect, choose ZG-SEES-5000 and start from a lower dosage |
